Indoors at studio 426. This is an art room with tables and large windows

Studio 426

Occupying most of the second floor of the former jail including the former cafeteria room, Studio 426 provides an affordable, dedicated working space for visual artists in eastern Restigouche.

The/Le Studio 426 is an artist space located in the old jailor’s apartment, above the jail. It serves artists and artist groups as a dedicated space where they can:

  • Create Art

  • Hold such formal development activities as workshops, classes, and study groups

  • Gather informally for free-form discussion and peer interaction

  • Host artist residencies

  • Hold their board and committee meetings

The/Le Studio 426 space is wonderfully suited for its purpose. Abundantly windowed on three sides, two former offices, and washrooms. It has a separate entrance and a fire escape. It is heated and has air conditioning.

The/Le Studio 426 is an initiative of the Town of Heron Bay (Dalhousie) , and the Restigouche Regional Museum Association (non-profit).

Renovations and upgrades were done in 2018 made possible in part by a grant from The Sheila Hugh Mackay Foundation and The Town of Dalhousie.

Studio 426 is available for rentals, workshops, meetings. Contact the Museum Main number at 506-684-7490 for inquiries.
